Situatuon:
Stephen and his family members just moved in a small flat. He wants to buy a computer. He is studying digital media design programme at a college. The laboratory of the college only equips with Apple computers. Some of his courses are related to 2-D and 3-D animations, desktop publishing, videos and photo production. Photo and video shooting is required. He needs to do his assignments at home. The screen size of the computer should be at least 13 inches. Color printing, scanning and copying are required. The computer is required to store videos and photos with file size about 300 GB.
His younger sister, Dora, is a junior form student. She needs to do her homework using word processing and presentation software. She needs to bring back the digital copies of homework with file size more than 4 GB but less than 6 GB to her school. She always searches information for projects over Internet. She likes to chat with friends over MSN and Facebook, and watch videos in YouTube and listen to the music. She likes photo taking. All the photos with size of around 100 GB will be saved in the computer. Some of the photos will be uploaded and shared in Facebook.
His mother, Mandy, is a housewife. She knows nothing about computer. She likes watching online TV shows and movies, playing online games and chatting with her friends in Hong Kong and other countries when she is wandering on the street.
His father, Frankie, is a sales manager. He always meets his clients at different locations in Hong Kong. He needs to check email even away from his office. He wants to read online news over the Internet. He has to show the documents of his products and performs presentation to the customers. He also likes to take snapshot on the funny things.
You are required to propose computer hardware and software, peripherals for Stephen and each of his family members. The computing devices to be purchased may be located in different rooms within the flat. The flat is too small to accommodate desktop computers. Only notebook, net book, tablet PC, or mobile computing device can be selected. The budget is also quite limited. You may make reasonable assumptions about the family. References and sources of materials MUST be cited in the report.
